Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
