Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
